BLOUBERGSTRAND
Bloubergstrand
is situated across Table Bay from Cape Town and gives a wonderful
view of the city. It is from Bloubergstrand beach that the
perfect picture postcard of Table Mountain is often taken.
This coast has long empty sandy beaches frequented by dog
walkers and kite flyers. The large crashing waves are perfect
for windsurfing, wave jumping and colourful hobie cats. There
are a whole host of restaurants all within a stone's throw
of the beach and a very youthful atmosphere. Robben Island,
where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, can be seen quite clearly
from the Bloubergstrand beach. Few were able to escape and
swim to the mainland because of strong currents and sharks.
But don't worry, the sharks feed on seals far out in the bay
and are never seen close to shore.
Blouberg offers a large variety of restaurants, pubs and
shops, all within walking distance from the Inn. Bloubergstrand
and Big Bay with its superb waves and frequent winds are famous
venues for windsurfing, kite surfing and power boating. The
Blaauwberg region is also home to Canal Walk in Century City,
the largest shopping mall in Africa, two excellent golf courses
and a host of other sporting facilities including Virgin Active
Health Club, a short distance from the guest house.
The Helderberg is visually stunning with the magnificent
Hottentots Holland and Helderberg mountain ranges as a backdrop,
winding down to the picturesque vineyards and scenic coastline
with warm waters and white sandy beaches and is a tourist
and photographers paradise. Situated a mere 45km from Cape
Town along the N2 Highway, the Helderberg is made up of the
towns of Gordon’s Bay, Lwandle, Macassar, Sir Lowry’s
Pass, Somerset West and Strand and within easy driving distance
of Stellenbosch, Hermanus, Cape Town International Airport
and all other major tourist attractions in the Western Cape.
Melkbosstrand is a tranquil West Coast Village situated 20
minutes from Cape Town. From the long sandy beaches at Bloubergstrand,
ideal for fishing, walking and picnicking, you will experience
a breathtaking view of Table Mountain.
