The Shamwari Game Reserve is a private game reserve that is also located in the Eastern Cape and has received many international awards including World's Leading Conservation Company and Game Reserve for five years. At Shamwari Game Reserve is a mere 45 minute drive from Port Elizabeth and boasts five ecosystems therefore being able to sustain many different plant life, animals and bird life. At Shamwari you will be able to see the legendary big five in their natural habitat. There is also the Mountain Zebra Park and with all the different game viewing destinations the Eastern Cape offers game viewing that is unequaled.
Whale watching in the Eastern Cape is a popular activity along the coastal regions; Southern right whales as well as their calves are regularly spotted usually between May and November. Closer to the shore common and bottle nose dolphins can be seen.

The Eastern Cape as said above stretches along 800 kilometers of pristine coastline and some of the world's best beaches. Port Elizabeth alone has 40 kilometers of magnificent beaches with a combination of warm water calm sea and fair breezes. This is one of the best sailing venues in the world.
